The role of precincts in the Regional Innovation System is to provide geographically compact sites for the establishment of clusters of related companies and research groups in order that they may share the tacit knowledge, pool resources and take advantage of shared intellectual knowledge, pool resources and commercial relationships. Companies involved in the precincts can capture the economic value of collaborative advantage, reduced transaction costs and amplified presence in the global markets for both commercial and intellectual capital.
