ConstellationSA Aims
Research for innovation
Constellation SA will broaden the scope of STI10 by including the social sciences and humanities, given the supporting role these disciplines frequently play in innovation. In effect Constellation SA sets a framework for building research capabilities, and leads to innovation that is directed towards achieving the six objectives of South Australia's Strategic Plan. In short, Constellation SA is about research for innovation.
Capabilities that meet local needs
Constellation SA will not be all things to all people. Its rationale is based on effective distribution of the State’s finite resources and developing strategic capabilities that meet local needs. In many instances, knowledge generators such as research institutions will make decisions that do not align with Constellation SA. This is perfectly appropriate given that different organisations have different objectives and the South Australian Government is just one of many sources of support for their research activities. However, under the umbrella of Constellation SA, government will focus its resources on enhancing strategic research capabilities aligned with the Alliances and Clusters of Constellation SA.
